A key plasmatic regulatory protein of the alternative complement activation pathway is Factor H (FH). Certain disorders may arise as a result of complement regulation being compromised by FH autoantibodies. The predominant isotype of anti-FH autoantibodies is IgG, yet reports of an uncommon IgA isotype have also been found.
